How to plan the first days and weeks after cosmetic surgery, including transport, support, wound reviews, movement, and when to contact your clinic.

The first days are about rest, hydration, prescribed medication, and short gentle movement. Arrange a trusted adult to help with transport, meals, medication reminders, and tasks that involve lifting or bending.
Choose accommodation or a home setup that makes the clinic, bathroom, and sleeping area easy to reach. Ask in advance whether drains, dressings, compression garments, or a wound review are expected.
Before paying a deposit, ask when the first review happens, who performs it, and how the clinic handles evenings or weekends. If you are travelling from another city, confirm which reviews must happen in person and whether a local doctor can support routine care.
A longer journey after surgery should be planned only with the operating team's clearance. Arrange door-to-door assistance and follow instructions about movement, compression, and avoiding luggage.
Contact the clinic promptly for worsening rather than improving pain, fever, spreading redness, heavy bleeding, one-sided swelling, shortness of breath, chest pain, or any concern about a wound. Ask for an emergency number before the procedure.
Recovery is not a competition. Swelling, numbness, tightness, and fatigue can last for weeks depending on the procedure. Use the clinic's specific instructions instead of comparing your progress with photographs online.
