How to Choose a Clinic in Slovenia, Croatia & Serbia

What to check with a clinic and the relevant professional registers before booking a cosmetic procedure.

Cliniqo is an information and referral service, not a medical provider or accreditation body. We do not perform procedures, certify surgeons, or guarantee clinical outcomes. Directory information is based on publicly available clinic information and is not a medical endorsement.

Information to Check Before Booking

Ask the clinic to confirm the following information:

A directory listing is not a clinical audit. Cliniqo does not inspect operating rooms, review patient records, audit complication rates, or assess clinical outcomes.

What a Directory Listing Does Not Mean

Important: A listing on Cliniqo does not mean:
  • The clinic is accredited by a national or international accreditation body (JCI, ISO, etc.)
  • The listed surgeon holds current board certification — you must verify this directly
  • The listed prices are current or include all costs — confirm itemised quotes with the clinic
  • The clinic has a clean complaint or inspection record
  • We endorse this clinic for your specific procedure or medical situation

How to Do Your Own Due Diligence

Before booking any cosmetic surgery procedure, we recommend patients:

  1. Verify surgeon credentials independently: Check your surgeon's name against the relevant national medical chamber's register (Slovenian, Croatian, or Serbian Medical Chamber). For international certification, check the ISAPS member directory at isaps.org.
  2. Request a video consultation before booking: This gives you a chance to assess the surgeon's communication style, ask about their experience with your specific procedure, and request before-and-after photographs from previous patients.
  3. Get a full itemised quote in writing: The quote should clearly state what is included: surgeon fee, anaesthesia fee, facility fee, implants (if applicable), post-operative garments, and any planned follow-up appointments. Complications management policy should also be documented.
  4. Read independent reviews: Look for reviews on RealSelf, Google Maps, Trustpilot, and procedure-specific patient forums. Be cautious of clinics with only perfect reviews and no critical feedback — a mix of positive and constructive reviews typically indicates authenticity.
  5. Check your cover and payment terms: Standard policies may exclude elective procedures. Ask your insurer and clinic what is covered, who manages complications, and what costs remain your responsibility.
  6. Understand your rights: If you are an EU citizen and are treated in Slovenia or Croatia, you are protected under EU Directive 2011/24/EU, which provides a framework for complaints, second opinions, and cross-border healthcare coordination. For Serbia (an EU candidate country, not a member state), your rights are governed by Serbian national healthcare law — ask the clinic for a written treatment agreement specifying the complaints process and applicable law.

Pricing Transparency

All prices shown on Cliniqo are estimates sourced from clinic websites or aggregated patient reports, with a source date. We do not fabricate or adjust pricing data. Where we have not been able to source a price, we display "Contact clinic" rather than estimate. Prices for cosmetic procedures can vary significantly based on individual anatomy, procedure complexity, implant choice, and anaesthesia requirements — the only reliable way to get an accurate price is a personalised quote from the clinic after an initial consultation.

Our Commercial Model and Bias Disclosure

Cliniqo earns revenue through referral fees from clinics that receive patient enquiries through our platform. This means we have a financial incentive to promote clinics in our directory. We disclose this explicitly:

Reporting Inaccurate Information

If you are a clinic representative and believe information in our directory is inaccurate, or if you are a patient who has had an experience (positive or negative) that you believe we should be aware of, please contact us through the enquiry form. We aim to review and update clinic entries on a regular basis.
